Guide to Washing Toppers and Clip-in Hair Extensions
Toppers and clip-in hair extensions are fantastic accessories that can instantly enhance your natural hair and transform your look. At Clean Beauty Boutique, we are committed to providing you with the best products for your hair care needs.
Step 1: Prepare the Supplies
Before you start washing your toppers and clip-in extensions, gather the following supplies:
1. Mild Shampoo: We recommend Innersense Hydration Cream Hair Bath, a gentle shampoo specifically formulated for hair extensions. It cleanses without stripping the hair of its natural moisture, leaving it soft and manageable.
2. Conditioner: For a nourishing and hydrating conditioner, we suggest Innersense Hydrating Cream Conditioner. This conditioner is perfect for restoring moisture and detangling the extensions, leaving them smooth and shiny.
3. Wide-Tooth Comb: Use a wide-tooth comb or a hair extension brush to gently detangle the hair before washing. This will help prevent any breakage or damage.
4. Lukewarm Water: Make sure the water is not too hot or too cold to prevent damage to the hair.
5. Towel: Have a clean, soft towel ready to gently pat dry the extensions.
6. Hanger or Drying Rack: Set up a hanger or drying rack to hang the extensions while they dry.
Step 2: Detangle the Extensions
Before washing, carefully remove any tangles or knots from the toppers and clip-in extensions. Hold the extensions at the top and gently comb through the hair from the bottom to the top using a wide-tooth comb or a hair extension brush. Take your time and be gentle to avoid any breakage.
Step 3: Fill the Sink or Basin with Water
Fill a sink or basin with lukewarm water. Ensure there is enough water to fully submerge the extensions without overcrowding. Avoid using hot water as it can damage the hair fibers.
Step 4: Shampooing the Extensions
Add a small amount of Innersense Hydration Cream Hair Bath to the water and mix it gently until it creates a lather. Submerge the toppers and clip-in extensions into the water, ensuring they are fully saturated. Gently swirl the extensions in the water for a few minutes, paying attention to areas that may be more prone to oil or product buildup.
Step 5: Rinse Thoroughly
After shampooing, drain the soapy water and rinse the extensions with lukewarm water until the water runs clear. Make sure to rinse out all the shampoo to prevent any residue from building up.
Step 6: Condition the Extensions
Apply Innersense Hydrating Cream Conditioner to the extensions, focusing on the mid-lengths and ends. Avoid applying conditioner directly to the base or roots of the extensions, as it can weigh them down. Leave the conditioner on for a few minutes to allow it to deeply moisturize the hair.
Step 7: Rinse and Pat Dry
Once the conditioning time is complete, rinse the extensions thoroughly with lukewarm water to remove all the conditioner. Gently squeeze out any excess water without twisting or wringing the hair. Place the extensions on a clean, soft towel and gently pat them dry to remove any remaining moisture.
Step 8: Air Dry and Style
Hang the toppers and clip-in extensions on a hanger or drying rack in a well-ventilated area away from direct heat or sunlight. Allow them to air dry completely before styling or storing. Once dry, you can style them as desired using heat styling tools, but remember to use a heat protectant product like Oway Heat Protectant to prevent damage.
